About Us

Our Story

Our owner, Steve Tebbe, first got the idea for Whispering Meadows when he was burnt out at work and needed a getaway. He loved the scenery and peacefulness of a wooded area and began dreaming about opening a resort there. Not even a week later, a friend of Steve’s in real estate invited him to a seminar on business plans and he took it as a sign.

Steve bought the land that is now home to our beautiful resort from his father in 1995 and built all the cabins from scratch himself. The name, Whispering Meadows, comes from the scenery; we believe it perfectly describes the feelings of quiet and peacefulness that come from being out here.

We want to offer our customers the opportunity to have a beautiful, scenic place to escape to. Our resort is the perfect place to leave behind the chaos of everyday life in order to relax and recharge. Our customer service is the best there is and we pride ourselves on offering a number of amenities that will keep you satisfied.

Some of the activities available here at Whispering Meadows include ATV/UTV trails, Guided UTV Tours, fishing, golfing, horseback riding (coming soon), canoeing (Maquoketa River Canoe Rentals), hayrides, and more. If you prefer staying indoors to relax, our cabins come equipped with a kitchenette, fireplace, whirlpool tub, BBQ grill, air conditioning, and TVs so you will always be comfortable and entertained. We even have journals available in the cabins for our guests to document their stay.

Our property covers 330 acres and has such a large variety of amenities to enjoy that you are sure to find something you will like. We have been the leading resort serving Clinton, Cedar, Jackson, Carroll, Jones, and Dubuque counties since 1998 and hope to continue that service for many years.

Stayed in a cabin here with my family a few weeks ago. There was room for everyone. The two full bathrooms were very handy. Everything was very clean and well-maintained. The owner stopped by and was friendly and helpful. The area is gorgeous and we enjoyed some fishing in the pond. It was a short drive over to wander around the caves. I would like to come back again. We had a wonderful, relaxing time.

Honestly one of the coolest and most personalized UTV/adventures I have had. The owner is beyond kind and easy going. He owns 100’s of acres and so many cool spots around town he will take you. (Wildly reasonable price for the utv, he will cut you a deal) The cabin we had with the tree in the MIDDLE of the living room was way worth the price. Beautiful view with a jacuzzi hot tub and has a 4-5 hole golf course for no reason at all. Such a fun time.

What an amazing place to stay. A very spacious rental cabin with all the comforts of home. Both the cabins and the grounds were very well maintained. We enjoyed fishing at the pond at the resort. The owner came and welcomed us personally. About 20 minutes from Makquota Caves. A nice quiet &relaxing place to stay.
